RBC Product Development is proud of its talented designers and engineers.
GOOD DESIGN™ and Medical Device Design Award® awards are only
a small reason for our satisfaction in a job done on time, on budget,
and really, really well!
GOOD DESIGN™
GOOD
DESIGN™ is the world's "oldest and most celebrated awards program that
bestows international recognition upon designers
and manufacturers for advancing new and innovative product concepts
and originality and for stretching the envelope beyond what is considered
standard product and consumer design."
Our award-winning industrial design department
has won awards for these products:
- Wireless
printer sharing device selected for its successful
use of industrial design to create an appealing and approachable
consumer
product that solves a complex technical problem.
- Video toaster selected because it successfully communicated
the desired message to the user: that this advanced technology
is for users who are creative, leading-edge video production
artists.
- Speed gun selected as
an example of successful design in a handheld product. While having
a
comfortable pistol grip, the rest of the product is non-aggressive
in its design. It's clear to the user how to aim the device, but
the form of the front doesn't project a pointing or gun-like appearance
to the player whose pitching or serving speed is being measured.
- Utility knife selected for its organic design theme that
communicates user comfort so effectively that it comes as quite a
surprise that
it actually has more functionality than most utility knifes, which
have less emphasis on ergonomics.
Medical Device Design Award (MDEA)®
The MDEA® competition is the "premier awards
program for the medical technology community, recognizing the many
people behind the scenes,
the engineers, scientists, and designers, who are responsible for
the groundbreaking innovations that are changing the face of healthcare."
Our award-winning industrial design department
has won the MDEA award for its design of a universal sports
splint. The
splint’s design successfully solves the conflicting
design requirements of being extremely compact in storage mode, extremely
strong in usage mode, and having a nearly infinite range of adjustments.
